#6-hoz. Nem érdemes elképzelni olyasmit, ami értelmezhetetlen. A fizika a változások módjaival, okaival, törvényszerűségeivel foglalkozik. Még a statika is, hiszen az teszi érthetővé a dinamikát. Olyan ez, mintha azon elmélkednénk, nem lehetne-e valamit a nullával osztással kezdeni? Nem lehet. Így definiáltuk.

Az ember az általa ismert világban az egyetlen tudattal rendelkező lény, aki gondolkodik, fogalmakat alkot, felfogja a változást, röviden érzékel és azt magyarázni kívánja. Az idő, tér, anyag, hő és minden más az ember által alkotott fogalmak abból a célból, hogy érzékeléseinek káoszában valahogy rendet tegyen. Mert az az igény a tudatának a része. Ahogy vizsgálja a környezetét (amit egy idő óta tudománynak hív), egyre több összefüggést tud megmagyarázni. Azt is egyre világosabban látja, milyen sokat nem tud még. Ez is ok volt a végtelen fogalmának bevezetésére.
Mondok egy konkrét példát. A világ megismeréséhez sokáig elég jó alap volt Eukleidész 2000 éve felépített geometriája, amely axiómákra épült. Ez azt jelenti, hogy veszünk néhány magától értetődő dolgot, ami mindenki számára evidens, ezt elfogadjuk igaznak. Minden mást ezekből bizonyítunk. De fejlődtek a többi tudományok, egyes jelenségeket egyre nehezebben tudtak megmagyarázni, egyre nyakatekertebb lett a gondolatmenet. Ekkor jött egy zseniális székely, bizonyos Bolyai János, aki azt mondta: mi van, ha valamelyik axiómát másra cserélünk? Kicsit leegyszerűsítve: a párhozamosok nem találkoznak. Vegyük az ellenkezőjét, és építsük fel újra az egész világot. Ezt leírta az apja szakkönyvének függelékeként. Kora matematikai zsenije, Gauss nem értette meg. Azóta erre épül szinte az egész kvantummechanika és még sok más.
Így működik a világ, az emberi gondolkodás, és ilyenek a jellemzői a végtelennek. Ezért kell sok ismeret a felfogásához. Ha meggondoljuk, a párhuzamosságnak éppen az a fő tulajdonsága hogy sohasem találkoznak (a végtelenségig húzhatod a vonalat), erre egy székely azt mondja, lehet ezt másképp is elképzelni, és az is jó. Erre köss csomót.

Igen, vannak olyan dolgok, amelyek nem fizikaiak, mégis hisznek bennük: ezotéria, babonák.
De pl. Istent el tudom fogadni fizikainak, mint egy végtelen hatalmas, intelligens energiát, mely magából anyagot képes létrehozni (ld.: ősrobbanás.)
#28! És még sok mindent lehetne mondani a Bolyai-Lobacsevszkij elméletről. Magyarként szívesebben hivatkozom Bolyaira, már csak nagyobb fokú mellőzöttsége miatt is.
A párhozamossági axióma is kicsit bonyolultabb geometriai nyelvezeten. De a felvetett probléma nehézségének érzékeltetése, és lehetőség szerint a párhuzamossági probléma és a végtelen fogalmi kapcsolatának bemutatása, megértetése volt a célom. Nem egyetemi előadás keretében. Ezt talán kissé pongyolaságot eredményezett. Inkább azt választottam. És remélem, a kiegészítés segítette megvilágítani, milyen nehéz absztrakciót kíván a végtelen megértése.
