Letter of complaint about a faulty microwave-oven

Dear XY,

I am writing this letter to complain about the … brand microwave (model number …) that I purchased on … January 5th from your … store for $…

During the first month of use, it functioned well. I was satisfied with the product.

After one month, one day, the appliance has caught fire while in use and emitted thick smoke. I believe the thermostat/temperature control may be faulty, thus the malfunction of microwave.

I was frightened, angered and disappointed. This malfunction may have gravely consequences, such as a house fire. My child may get burned, our lives may be in danger.

Due to all above, I request a safety investigation into this matter, as well as, a full refund of purchase price. Having a small child to travel with, it is not convenient for me to deliver faulty product to the store, therefore I need you to arrange the pick-up and removal of appliance from my home.

I trust that we can come to a mutually beneficial agreement in the very near future.
