Growing populations in cities leads to the development of more facilities like shopping malls, and parking garages to cater for the needs of the residents. This often happens at the expense of nature such as fields, forest in the area or like in our city wants the Mayor : parks.
Building a parking garage has a lot of advatages, for example people cars are under protection from rain, sun and thieves and the building has an elevator, thus you be closer to your car, so less walking. The main advantage is that ground space can be saved in a area where space is valuable.
That’s all good and nice, but don’t forget, that in our city the Major wants to build the parking house in the place where Lawton Park now stands. Furthermore don’t forget the disadvantages of the parking garages, such as parking garages tend to be far more disorganized and confusing to patrons. It is far easier to forget your spot and waste time trying to locate vehicle. The main disadvantage is that there are more accidents in parking garages with all the sharp corners and blind spots.
Nowadays parking garages are part of all modern cities and we need for them here too, because of the growing car owner community.
In my opinion we must to build a parking garage in our city due to the parking problems, but not instead of parks or in place of parks. We must to solve this problem in other way than the Major has imagined.

Building car parking facilities has a lot of advantages. Examples of these are: cars are protected and secure. Being multi-storey, they take up less land. It is comfortable to reach any storey by the elevators. The main advantage of these kind of parking is that ground space can be saved in an area where space is at a premium.
This is all very well, but we must not forget that in our city the Mayor has approved to build the extra parking lots in the place where Lawton Park now stands.
Furthermore, we mustn't forget the disadvantages of these parking buildings. These include environmental issues, e.g.air pollution, legal issues and management. Confusion may arise when trying to locate parked vehicles. It is easy to forget your spot and waste time trying to locate vehicle. Technology may help with these issues.
The main disadvantage is with the design of these building. Naturally, as many parking bays should be accommodated as legally possible, but that means that sharp blind corners may be inevitable, thus increasing the possibility of accidents.
Today, parking garages are part of all modern cities and we need them because of the growing car owners' community.
In my opinion we should build parking garages in our city due to the ever increasing problems of parking but not in place of parks. We must solve this problem but not in the way the Mayor has planned.
