It would appear you didn't cleanly uninstall it.

Installations consist of Files AND registry keys. One without the other causes all sorts of bad things to happen.

First, check Add/Remove Programs in the control panel (Start > Settings > control panel). If it's listed there still, try uninstalling and see if it can. If it can't... well congrats, you made this a lot harder on yourself.

First job is to try and clean out the old install keys (hopefully). First, I would suggest you try to use CCleaner to see if it'll automagically remove those keys. While using this program, you can also remove Battlefield Heroes from your uninstall menu (assuming it is there but doesn't work) by choosing Tools > Uninstall > selecting Battlefield Heroes and clicking "Delete Entry".

If that program doesn't solve your problem (and I bet it doesn't), you need to get your hands dirty. Hit Start > Run... and type in without quotes "regedit" and hit enter. This program is very powerful. Doing anything in here can make the difference between something working wonderfully and not working at all. Tread lightly and don't touch anything unless your told to. Now navigate to

32-bit Windows: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Electronic Arts > EA Games

64-bit Windows: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Wow6432Node > Electronic Arts > EA Games

You'll see a folder most likely that is called "Battlefield Heroes". Right-Click on it and select "Export". This will allow you to create a backup of the information there. If something goes wrong, you can import the backup file and at least have it back to this point. You should love the idea of backups and should start doing it from now on. Okay? Okay. Moving on.

Right-click the Battlefield Heroes and choose delete. It'll prompt you saying "are you sure". You may not be, but I am so hit yes. Close regedit.

Deleted Registry Key? Check

Deleted Uninstall Listing? Check

Restart computer and try to install the game now. See if it works.

Oh... and in closing.... NEVER go snooping around in the installation folder of this game. It will only cause heartache. That means no running it's uninstaller from there, no running the bfheroes.exe from there, do nothing there. period.
