We should change the curriculum of the music lessons

We should change the curriculum of the music lessons. Why? Because we do not have the best standard lessons. We should learn music by its musical periods. In the class only the ones now how to write or read a sheet music who went on solfeggio lessons. Is that really normal in our school, in one of the bests in Budapest?

First of all, we can see that how less we know from music. We had been learning exactly the same songs for 3 years. In other schools children know many songs and the base of the sheet music.Why don’t we know them? We should learn music by time periods. For example in fifth grade we should learn how the music was born and the folk-songs of other nations. We know very little about the music of the other countries except for the nowadays popular ones. We could learn the lifestyle of the other countries because music shows many things for us. In 6 grade we could learn hungarian folk-songs as much as we can. This type of music is very important because this is the part of our history but that doesn’t mean that we only have to know that. In 7 grade we should learn classical music. We could learn about the ”big ones” like Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Haydn , Verdi, Wagner. Maybe, children don’t like classical music but the aim of the music lessons to make children to love it. And in 8 grade we can learn the music of the 20th century. We should learn rock, pop, jazz, disco and these types. We could also learn the ones in the 21th century.

Also, we don’t really know the instruments. Yes, there are the instruments like piano or guitar and saxofon but how many that we know. For example there is the erhu , Crwth or the goblet drum. These are very interesting instruments and I think no one has heard about them. But we don’t know how does a simple piano or a trumpet work.

Continuously, we should listen to live music. We should call musicians, who would be happy to show their instruments, how do they play on them etc. Also, school should make visits to concerts. There are tours too in the Opera which can sparks interest. These things are affordable, no ones parents have to get plus work to pay these tickets.

Finally, we really don’t know anything about the bases of the music . Like this :… I’m sure that only the ones who learnt solfeggio know how the solmization looks like at this song. That really shows how much we don’t know.

All in all, I think we have to improve a lot from music. Our music lessons are worser than in the last district school in Budapest. We have to learn many things like the history or the solmization and the instruments.
