The courses:

our very sucessful English language courses are now in their 16th year. We have developed excellent material which uses what the students themselves are seeing and hearing during their stay. The courses are available to everyone, including adults. Classes are usally in the morning and short trips or activities are in the afternoon. Lessons involve a great deal of practical use of language, dealing with real situations, also including creative drama and singing. The visits are not only to beautiful places but are with guides who engage the students in their language development. The course also gives opportunities for students to interview people in the town centre.

The families:

All families are good, supportive friendly hosts. They provide all meals ( including packed lunch on course days) , and take responsibility for transport between home and the SOL centre. Students and teachers are asked to complete a simple information sheet about themselves in order to help us match families and guests as far as possible.

The location:

SOL has two centres in the neighbouring towns of Barnstaple and Bideford, situated in North Devon in the beautiful South West of England and just a few kilometres from the Atlantic Ocean. It is 300 km west of London. This is the REAL England!

Travel:

By coach,by or public service coach. Whichever way you come , we hope to include a visit to Stonehenge on the way to Devon.
